Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how General Public LLC (“General Public,” “we,” “us”), a California limited liability company located in Carpinteria, California, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our online art catalog and project tools (the “Service”).

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account or sign in — with Google, Microsoft, or an emailed sign-in link — we collect your email address, name, and, if provided, your company name.

Trade and wholesale applications. If you apply for trade or wholesale access, we collect the information you submit: contact name and email, company name, website, business type, and optionally a resale certificate number or tax ID, project scope, referral source, and message.

Content you create. Projects and selections you build (including works chosen, notes, frame preferences, and names you give projects), and comments you leave on shared projects.

Usage information. We use first-party analytics to understand how the Service is used. This includes pages and artworks viewed, searches run (including search text), project activity, sign-in events (including which sign-in provider you used), a randomly generated visitor identifier and session identifier stored in cookies, your browser type, referring page, and marketing attribution parameters. We do not store your full IP address in our analytics records — we store a one-way hash and a truncated network prefix.

Communications. If you contact us, submit an inquiry, or request a quote, we keep the correspondence.

2. Cookies

We use first-party cookies only: a session cookie to keep you signed in, an analytics session cookie, and a marketing-attribution cookie. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not permit third parties to track you across other websites through the Service.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to operate and improve the Service; to review trade and wholesale applications; to provide project, sharing, and quoting features; to understand which artworks and features are of interest (including associating usage with your account when you are signed in); to send transactional emails (sign-in links, application decisions, inquiry responses); to secure the Service and audit access; and to comply with law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. How we share information

  • Service providers that host and operate the Service on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Amazon Web Services (image storage), Resend (transactional email), and Google and Microsoft (sign-in). These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
  • Our framing partner. Framing services are provided with Simply Framed, Inc., a separate company. If your order or inquiry involves framing fulfillment, we share the information needed to fulfill it.
  • Within our brands. General Public LLC operates the General Public, Art Patron, and Visual Contrast brands; information may be used across these brands under this policy.
  • Legal. We may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and property.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred with notice.

5. Data retention

We retain account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Analytics records are retained for up to 24 months, and application records for up to 24 months after a decision, unless a longer period is required by law.

6. Your choices and rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing privacy@generalpublic.art. California residents may exercise applicable rights under California law; we honor verifiable requests regardless of statutory thresholds, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

7. Security

We use encryption in transit, role-based access controls, and audit logging on access-control changes. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Children

The Service is a business-to-business tool and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Users outside the United States

The Service is operated from the United States and directed to United States businesses. If you access it from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.

10. Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be notified via the Service or email.
